FAQ
What Is Yoga?
Yoga literally means union. Yoga is the union of the body, mind, and spirit. It is not only the physical poses (asana). Sukha Studio explores meditation, sankalpa (affirmations), along with a physical practice for developing a lasting sadhana (ego transcending spiritual practice).
Is Yoga A Cardio Workout?
It can be! depending on the speed and flow, you can definitely get your heart rate up! What’s great about Sukha Studio classes is that you get the best of both worlds – high intensity followed by a relaxation practice.
What Should I Bring?
Bring your yoga mat, any yoga blocks, bolsters etc. that you use in your practice. But don’t worry! The studio has a number of these available. And remember, there’s no shame in the prop game! We encourage props for all abilities to strengthen and deepen their practice.
What If I Have An Injury?
We ask that you check with your doctor before beginning this, or any exercise program. Please let your instructor know about any injuries or concerns before class. As Yoga is a journey of the self, it is up to you to know your limitations and capabilities. Please do not push past these limits. You will open and strengthen in time. There is no rush.
*you will be asked to sign a waiver prior to your first class*
Is Yoga Suitable for Me?
Yoga is available to anyone and everyone. It is a journey of the self, beginning where you are, even if you have never attended a physical class of any kind. We aim to guide you on your specific special journey.
What Should I Wear?
Wear comfortable items and clothing that is suitable for movement and physical practice. Please dress weather appropriate for outdoor classes. If you would need suggestions for clothing options, Cynthia would love to recommend her favourite brands and items!
How Long Are Yoga Classes?
Class times can vary, but typically they run one hour. Special events and outdoor classes may be different. Please check the class section for more info.
